Pastor Montreal D. Martin AKA “Pastor Monty” is a native of Racine, WI. The challenges and hardships he faced as an adolescent causes his heart to break for the oppressed, those who are considered to be the “least” and to individuals who are “left out” and pushed to the margins of society. Pastor Monty was given the opportunity to further his education by completing his undergraduate degree from the American Baptist College in Nashville, TN; where he earned a dual Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies and Sociology with a minor in Christian Education.

He later matriculated at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. While there, he was elected as

President of ABS (Association of Black Seminarians) and served two consecutive terms on the Student Council. Through the partnership of a local non-profit, he organized on-campus hot meals to seminary students on Fridays due to the refectory being closed. Further, while attending seminary, he served as Associate Pastor of Community Outreach and Engagement at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church of the Baltimore-Washington Conference. During his 2-year tenure and the implementation of the many community programs, the church experienced a growth from worshipping an average of 20 to an average of 75 worshippers daily.

Upon receiving his Master of Arts Degree with a specialization in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Pastor Monty relocated to Dallas, TX in 2016 to be closer to his now 9-year-old son, Brennan. Pastor Monty has completed a total of 7 CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) Units; 1 Unit at UT Southwestern (2016-Dallas, TX), 4 Units at Texas Health Resources, Harris Methodist (2016/2017-Fort Worth, TX), and 2 Units at Methodist Health System (2017-Dallas, TX). He served as the Psychiatric Staff Chaplain at John Peter Smith Hospital (2017/2018-Fort Worth, TX). He has served as Pastor of Outreach at St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church, Dallas, TX;  2018-2019.

In 2019, Pastor Monty was appointed to serve as Senior Pastor at Wheatland United Methodist Church where he currently serves Part-Time. Under Pastor Monty’s leadership Wheatland partnered with 2 local schools for mentoring, opening of Wheatland’s Student Laundry Center (currently under construction), church/community-wide support of Wheatland’s Veterans Village (Tiny Home Community), installation of Fire Suppression System in historic sanctuary (with support of many UM Churches in NTC), partnership with North Texas Food Bank for En Masse mobile food distribution and Grab N’ Go Hot Meal Program (serving over 400 individuals/families daily).

Pastor Monty was recently appointed to First United Methodist Church-Lancaster as of July 1, 2021. Since his appointment, FUMC Lancaster has repurposed its Educational Wing by leasing to a local childcare provider to provide affordable child care.

Pastor Monty also serves as a PRN (as needed) Level 1 Trauma Chaplain at Charlton Methodist Medical

Center.

Pastor Monty is a caring pastor, loving father, passionate community advocate/organizer and dedicated

community developer.
